Frank Castaldo started working in the Insurance Industry with Canadian Surety on April 4, 1982, as a claims adjuster in Thunder Bay.
He was promoted to Senior Adjuster in Charge of managing 5 adjusters and the claims clerical staff in the Thunder Bay service office.
In 1989 he was asked to move to Sudbury to set up the Northwestern Regional office for Canadian Surety, which was opened in April 1990, with a staff of 60 employees. When the office opened, he was the Regional Claims Manager for the Northwestern Ontario region of Canadian Surety.
In 1993 he was promoted to Deputy Regional Manager responsible for the personal lines underwriting staff, human resources staff and the office accounting department for personal lines and commercial underwriting.
He was approached by Wellington Insurance in 1994 while still working with Canadian Surety to move back to Thunder Bay to open an office for them, starting with claims staff and eventually adding underwriters to the Thunder Bay office within 2 years. His role in the new office would be all lines senior claims adjuster.
The Wellington Insurance was purchased by Halifax Insurance in 1996, Halifax Insurance is now known as Intact Insurance. During his 28 years with the company, he held the position of Unit Claims Manager and for the last 8 years he has been a Casualty Claims Specialist dealing mainly with litigation files. Intact Insurance acquired The Guarantee of North America, Frank’s claim files are now mainly Municipality claims dealing with police, paramedic and transit claims. In this role he deals with high profile multim million-dollar Municipality claims in Ontario and across Canada.
During his insurance career he has handled many multiple party complicated mediations and pre-trials which he has been successful in bringing to a resolution without the need for a trial.
He spent 22years as an executive with the Ontario Insurer Adjusters Association, he was president of the association from 2003 to 2004, he has been on a number of panels used for adjuster training over the years.
